Benjamin Turland (Catholic Christian Outreach Team Lead)

B. TurlandI was born in Vancouver, but grew up in Salmon Arm which is a small mountain town in British Columbia. I have not lived in BC for the past four years, but my love for the place I have titled God’s country has consistently increased. I graduated from UBC with a Bachelors in History and English and I have worked as a full time missionary for 6 years, from traveling doing retreats all over Canada and Ireland, and working on campus at the U of S. I converted to Catholicism in 2004 while in Grade 11 and it brought me so much joy and fulfillment by having a personal relationship with Christ , and made my life better, that I wanted to share it with everyone.

I am a big fan of the saints. Why not have as many friends in heaven as you can? St. Patrick  is a great saint that I love. He was the first saint I  had ever heard of.  I am also a big fan of Saint Padre Pio, Saint John Paul II, Saint Francis Xavier and St. Joseph. There are so many great role models to be had, I am often drawn to Saints who lived radical lives to serve the Lord.

My favourite restaurants are as many as the saints I like. But Burger Priests is a great place for a Burger, Origen for some fusion food, Salad King for Thai and I am obsessed with coffee and nothing beats Fahrenheit (which is super close to Ryerson)
